Mosquito Control Work Description Job Title: Mosquito Control Technician Department: A2Z Pest Control Summary: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor or Manager, the Mosquito Control Technician performs skilled entry-level technical work focused on mosquito control activities and involving chemical and other eradication methods for surveillance and abatement of mosquitoes. Essential Job Functions: * Surveillance and Inspection: * Inspect and identify mosquito breeding sites (e.g., standing water, marshes, stagnant ponds). * Collect mosquito samples for identification and analysis. * Monitor mosquito populations using traps and other surveillance methods. * Larval Control: * Apply larvicides to control mosquito larvae in breeding sites (e.g., ponds, ditches, containers). * Utilize biological control methods such as introducing mosquito-eating fish or bacteria. * Adult Mosquito Control: * Apply adulticides to control adult mosquito populations using ground and aerial spraying techniques (when necessary). * Operate and maintain mosquito control equipment (e.g., backpack sprayers, foggers, trucks). * Public Education and Outreach: * Provide information to the public on mosquito prevention and control measures. * Respond to public inquiries and concerns regarding mosquito problems. * Conduct educational presentations to community groups. * Data Collection and Record Keeping: * Maintain accurate records of all mosquito control activities and observations. * Prepare reports and maps to document mosquito control operations.
